Hi,

Unfortunately that nmm.raw is not useful at all, in fact I believe that part corresponds to a file system backup and not SQL backup. Can you please attach the nmm.raw in here so I can take a look?

Also, you didn't tell us the client properties, but the group status, and I was looking for the client configuration (Configuration->Clients->double click on the client, Tab Apps and Modules).

On the other hand you have set a parallelism in the group of "10", and should be set to "0", setting max sessions in the devices themselves and in the clients.

So in closing, I would need please the nmm.raw and the client configuration screenshots (all tabs please).

Thank you.

Carlos.

Hi,

What is the NetWorker version you are using and its operating system ? Is the NMC is on the same backup server or remote host ? What is the NMC & Java versions ?

Did you try to check with nsrwatch command is the job still running or the NMC is hanging on that state ?

Waiting your updates.

Thanks,

Ahmed Bahaa

Hi,

What are the client properties?

What do you have set in the Application Information field?

Have you checked the nmm.raw and the Application event viewer on the SQL server?

You can "monitor" the backup checking out the Application logs, you will see snapshot created, deported etc., and also the group backup completed, but nmm.raw is the best way to check the status of the backup (render it so you can read it properly)

Thank you.

Carlos.

Hi again,

There are a couple of things wrong configured:

1.- The smtp name has a double dot (name..xxx), but that is not important right now:

34istemcnwbck..com smtpmail 17 unknown host

2.- You didn't change the default configuration of the client, and retries value is still not set to "0":

39077:save: error, no matching devices for save of client `34istemcnwbck.'; check storage nodes, devices or pools

3.- You have set a pool in the client, and that is NOT supported, as all clients within that snapshot group will use the same pool, if you set a pool backup will fail, so please leave if blank and run a new backup.

Thank you.

Carlos.

Perfect, thanks.

All values should be set to "0", Clien Retries, Inactivity timeout and parallelism.

Actually this is just to have a perfect configuration, however there is a chance that, as Ahmed pointed is an issue with NMC not refreshing the information correctly, which could be communication issue, Java issue, or nsrtask or jobsdb playing funny.

Thank you.

Carlos.

Hi ,

Here is the latest update. Sql save set ends 4.10 hour with 2.2 TB backup . I just get these error and confuse ,

abprod:index 39077:save: error, no matching devices for save of client `34istemcnwbck'; check storage nodes, devices or pools

abprod:index

abprod:index 5777:save: Cannot open save session with 34istemcnwbck

:  Failed with error(s)

I checked everything twice.

It looks like your backup is completed successfully (you state at the top it is 2.1TB and that the backup is 2.2TB so my assumption is this is successful as you have posted no relevant error messages) but the index backup is failing due to lack of devices available - the index backup will be stored on the backup server so you need to verify that there is a device/pool that can take backups from the Networker server.

Hi Ahmet,

This is typical issue with pool being misconfigured.  For example, pool is limited to devices on remote storage node, but index and bootstrap can only be saved on backup server and not remote storage node.  To address that, you could do several things:

- change pool restrictions

- check no index save on group properties (make sure you understand what implications are there or simply what it does)

- apply no index save to all groups and have separated index groups running at the time when you want bootstrap to be saved

You can find instruction that will help you with this here:

Troubleshooting Media Waiting Events - waiting for 1 writable volume or no matching devices

Point number 3 refers directly to the issue at hand.

Thanks,

Ahmed Bahaa
