On what compression ratio does the networker client backup if the compression is enabled in it

Hi All,

can the compresion ratio be known on what compression ratio does the networker client backup if the compression is enabled in it.

Like 1gb file gets compressed to 500 mb/ more or less.

Your maximum compression would probably be on database files with a lot of blank space in them (if you have any of those!)  Things like TXT and XML can be expected to compress well. A lot of common files are already compressed, often if they are the larger variety (things like JPG, MP3 etc), applying compression twice is ineffective and may even see the compressed file become larger!

ok so there no fixed ratio of compression , but the maximum compression happens on the .txt files and .xml files (logs files) is this corect.

Like all compression its variable, if something is already compressed (jpg, zip etc) you won't get much compression whereas other types of file will compress particularly well (some database files, text files etc).  For general file data expect 50% compression, if your data is more specific then you would need to take into account what it is to know what to expect.

All right David,

I understood , and one more thing there are no database running on this client , so the Maximun compression will be on .txt files
