Installing 'Standard SCSI Jukebox' jukebox - scsidev@2.0.0.

What name do you want to assign to this jukebox device? L40
Turn NetWorker auto-cleaning on (yes / no) [yes]? no

The following drive(s) can be auto-configured in this jukebox:
1> sdlt320 @ 2.4.0 ==> \\.\Tape0
The 1 drive(s) that cannot be auto-configured will be addressed in a moment,
but first:

Please enter the device path information in one of the following formats:

\\.\Tape0 --for local path or
host:device-path --for remote node or
host:drive-letter:directory path --for Windows disk file

You will be prompted only for those drives that could not be auto-configured;
the others will be skipped. Please provide the paths for these drives:

Drive 2, element 501
Drive path ? pun-filer-01:nrst0a

Only model sdlt320 drives have been detected.

It looks like you are missing storage node license.

Also, I think path should be probably something like /dev/nrst0a or whatever (not just plain nrst0a).

Get support involved if not sure of it.

Oh, just realized something else. In this case NW should not ask for license as for storage node using NDMP device EMC doesn't require storage node license since some version. So, the question is what caused license to be asked in the first place. I believe following:

Do you want to configure any of the detected drives as shared or NDMP
drives or otherwise manually change their configuration? (yes / no) [no]

I think you should say yes here and then define 1st drive as non NDMP and second one as NDMP, etc...

Hi Hrvoje,

I totally agree with and that was the mistake I was doing. It lokks good now. The drives have been configured and working fine. Thanks a lot once again for the help. I'm attaching the command output for your reference

C:\>jbconfig
1) Configure an AlphaStor/SmartMedia Jukebox.
2) Configure an Autodetected SCSI Jukebox.
3) Configure an Autodetected NDMP SCSI Jukebox.
4) Configure an SJI Jukebox.
5) Configure an STL Silo.
6) Configure a Microsoft Removable Storage Jukebox.

Installing 'Standard SCSI Jukebox' jukebox - scsidev@2.0.0.

What name do you want to assign to this jukebox device? L40

The following drive(s) can be auto-configured in this jukebox:
1> sdlt320 @ 2.4.0 ==> \\.\Tape0
The 1 drive(s) that cannot be auto-configured will be addressed in a moment,
but first:
Do you want to configure any of the detected drives as shared or NDMP
drives or otherwise manually change their configuration? (yes / no) [no] yes

Is (any path of) any drive intended for NDMP use? (yes / no) [no] yes
Is any drive going to have more than one path defined? (yes / no) [no]

Please enter the device path information in one of the following formats:

\\.\Tape0 --for local path or
host:device-path --for remote node or
host:drive-letter:directory path --for Windows disk file

After you have entered a device path, you will be prompted for an NDMP
user name for that path's host. If this device path is not an NDMP device,
press the enter key to advance to the next device path. For NDMP devices,
you need to enter the user name and password the first time we encounter
that NDMP host. Pressing the enter key for the NDMP user name for any
subsequent device path on the same host will set the user name and password
to those defined the first time. You will not be prompted for the password
in such a case.

Drive 1, element 500, system name = \\.\Tape0,
local bus / target / lun value = 2/4/0,
model sdlt320
Drive path ? [\\.\Tape0]
Enter NDMP user name for host 'pun-backup-01.adprod.bmc.com'?

Drive 2, element 501
Drive path ? pun-filer-01:nrst0a
Enter NDMP user name for host 'pun-filer-01'? root
Enter NDMP password (characters will not be echoed):

Only model sdlt320 drives have been detected.
Are all drives in this jukebox of the same model? (yes / no) [yes] yes

Jukebox has been added successfully

The following configuration options have been set:

Jukebox description to the control port and model.
Autochanger control port to the port at which we found it.
Networker managed tape autocleaning on.
Barcode reading to on.
Volume labels that match the barcodes.
Slot intended to hold cleaning cartridge to 40. Please insure that a

cleaning cartridge is in that slot
Number of times we will use a new cleaning cartridge to 5.
Cleaning interval for the tape drives to 6 months.

You can review and change the characteristics of the autochanger and its
associated devices using nwadmin.

Would you like to configure another jukebox? (yes/no) [no]no

Hi,

Since you undergone throug this I felt you can answer my question.
I have a general question regarding NDMP Filer. My question is does EMC Celerra has any "HBA" on it that can be used to zone FC Tape drives to it.

Because we have a project similar like what you did. We have 8 tape drives on Adic Scalar I2k of which we have to zone 2 drives to Celerra.

It would be great if you can send me a link or document that explains the whole process.

Thanks in advance.
