Problem to Linux REDHAT 5.7 installation

Question

Hello,

I have a problem on my Linux server REDHAT 5.7 when I performed the installation of the NetWorker client 7.6.2.1 was all right. But when I apply the command / etc / init.d / networker start the Service does not rise in the system when I apply the command ps-ef | grep nsr. But when I stop the service Occor perfectly.
I need a help with this issue.

Hi,

Double-check that you have the right version installed for your operating system and that rpm -qa lists it as installed. Also check the NetWorker Installation Guide to be sure that you haven't missed any pre-requisites.

Then start the nsrexecd process manually using 'nsrexecd -D9' - this will give you a lot of output on the screen and the last lines should give you an idea of what the process is doing before it disappears.

Is 5.7 still using portmap? (I know in v6 they replaced it with rpcbind). Anyway, your issue seems to be related to RPC process.

Without starting nsrexecd, what response do you get when you do rpcinfo -p localhost ? (executed on that host) Also, are you using IPv6? If not, and if enabled (you can see that from ifconfig), make sure to disable it.

And which version of NW did you try on RHEL 5.7?  Is it RHEL 5.7 in your case?

In my case it's cent os. But I got the fix. As I made wrong entry in /etc/hosts file. Now I am able to start nsrexecd service.. Thanks

The issue described above is talked about in KB 157565. And yes it has to do with hosts file entries.
