Recover of Exchange 2010 database extremly slow

Hi to all,

I need to test Exchange 2010 database backup. I am restoring database to some test server, but, restore is extremly slow at the rate of 200 KB/S. At that rate, restore wll finish by the end of this week.

What could be the reason for this behaviuor and how can I speed it up?

Thank you,

Zlatko

Hi Zlatko,

This sounds a bit as a connectivity issue. Have you tried the same restore into RDB on the production servers?

Have you tried to backup that client and find out the throughput?

Have you tried bigasm from that client?

Thank you.

The thing is...

Exmbx02 is using Exmbx03 storage node for backups. When I removed that storage node definition from client configuration, and use only nsrserverhost, restore are flying high.

But, the throughput for backups are fine... no congestions. So that's why it is weird when trying to restore from the same storage node. Backups are fast, restores are very slow.

Hi Zlatko,

If it's a DAG environment, why don't you configure all the physical nodes to be storage nodes?

What backup devices are you using?

Thank you,

Carlos.

It's DAG env. I haven't defined all of the nodes because, one node is not presented to a backup device. Because I am also SAN admin, maybe I will present it to backup device. I need to check on this with my manager.

Backup device is Tape Library.
