Recovery/Backup fails

We have a savegroup completion report that says successful backup but with warnings. When we started recovery today, it is not there in index or save set recovery. EMC Support says that in daemon.log there is no entry of successful backup but email notification shows successful backup. mminfo also shows no backups.

Is there a way out to get the data? Email notification shows 337 GB, 7191 files & 59 minutes. The supprot engineer said you should not rely on only one log and should check all the logs to co-relate and be sure about success/failure of a backup.

Brian,

Warnings != Errors :)

It states, savegrp ended up with some warnings. This is fairly common after 7.3.x.

Anuj,

For the sake of this discussion, can you send FULL savegrp log please?

I never relied on savegrp log, but rather daemon.log... nevertheless, there is nothing wrong to believe savegrp log either. According to what you have said, your data does not exists (if mminfo doesn't see it - I guess that would be backup to disk).

In my eyes, this is kind of data loss where backup application says data is there (and I guess status of the group would be successful) and in reality it's not. I would escalate it to EMC.
