Hi Paul,

Quick answers:

I rather go for Linux because of:

1.- Avoid issues at TCP/IP level with TCP stack on Windows

2.- You mention AFTD, but DDBoost works great on Linux

3.- Linux is easier to troubleshoot and tune up

4.- I would stay with Linux and user DDBoost.

Thank you,

Carlos

Apparently win2k12 does solve many issues including TCP layer Carlos mentioned and in theory CIFS is faster then NFS, but...

a) if using DDBoost, I would stick to Linux (even if using AFTD)

b) Linux offers out of the box much better possibilities to troubleshoot - something rather important

c) NFS is easier to troubleshoot than CIFS and Linux is most likely best fit for NFS based things

d) many things can be speed up or shaped with scripts (not talking about perl here) - scripts on Linux are probably easier to get or make than Windows
