StorEdge L8 NetWorker

Hi All,

I have L8 autoloader with 8 tape media- 8th is a cleaning tape.
In the first try I have set up jukebox and was able to backup the server where I have Sun Storedge Enterprise BackUp Software 7.2 is installed and another XP client.
But I noticed that for Day 2 the -volume was backing it on to the first tape.
AND not on the 2nd Volume.

My new issue I had reinstalled everything today to work with the jukebox and when I need to inventory it keep ejecting the
ri 16:47:27 /dev/rmt/0cbn Verify label operation in progress
Fri 16:47:39 /dev/rmt/0cbn verified label of svr.005 (NOT in media index)
Fri 16:47:39 /dev/rmt/0cbn Eject operation in progress
Fri 16:47:57 /dev/rmt/0cbn ejected

How to fix this issue?

I was wondering if anyone know if L8 is considered as stacker devices?
Reading the docs tells me it is a autochanger.

Thanks in Advance
Joe

Fact 1: Tape will be used until it is in appendable state. If on day 1 your 1st tape was not market full (filled till the end) it will be used until such state is achieved.

Fact 2: If you remove your media database then data from it is gone.

Fact 3: 7.2 is initial release and as such has some - quirks (bugs and unexplainable things not considered as bugs). Check for 116832-03 from Sunsolve.

Hi Joe,

After end of day 1, if you want day 2 to be written on a new tape you can -

1. Mark Day 1 tape read only form Volume status.
2. Make different groups & pools for each day. Make schedules to run on Day 1 group and skip Day2 & then skip day 1 & run on Day2 in the second group.

Networker would keep appending any appendable tape if it is available in the same pool. So either of the above options can help you.

If the media database does not have the details of a media labelled with Legato, inventory would read the label but indicate Not in media index suggesting you have lost this tape's detailed information from the media database.
