Support for Solaris 10 non-global zones
Hi,
We have a couple of hundred Solaris 10 non-global zones set up here as NetWorker backup clients. We use one NetWorker client in each zone so we protect each zone as if it were a physical server. The non-global zones are clustered with VCS so they can move between different global zones, and that is the main reason we need to have a NetWorker client in each zone. The file systems are not present in vfstab, hence we cannot use All or All-local as save set.
Our UNIX team is tired of missing to order backup of new file systems for the non-global zones and that has resulted in a couple of incidents over the past. I was thrilled to see the new keyword All-mounts, but after trying it I was disappointed again as it did not discover any mounts except / just like All or All-local in the non-global zones.
Are there any plans for NetWorker to be able to handle non-global zones without having to specify each file system in the save set list, or will this be the only way to do it also in the future releases of NetWorker?
Thanks
Rickard

Hi Rickard,
I am checking on this for you. I don't believe it is officially planned but was told it would be a good RFE to enter. Have you submitted one for it? If not, I can put it in.

Thanks Allan,
I have not sent this in as a RFE. I've been of the opinion that this should have been covered by All-local as this is how it has been documented as it should have worked since it was introduced. However, after many support cases I have understood that there are no plans to change the behaviour of All-local for non-global zones. I will file this as a RFE now.
Many thanks
Rickard

Hi Rickard,
I followed up with Development on this issue and the ALL-Mounts save set should accomplish what you are trying to do. For now, I would recommend opening up a case with Support to troubleshoot the case further and if necessary file an bug against this issue instead of an RFE...
When you get the SR filed, please provide the SR number and I'll follow up with the owner of the case in Support to discuss.
Thanks

Thanks Debbie,
I'll open up a new support case and see where it goes.
Thanks
