Tune shared memory use_open files : NetWorker Procedure Generator

NetWorker Procedure Generator suggests modifications in Solaris /etc/system. However, it says recommendations are applicable to Solaris 9 only. What of Solaris 8 and 10? I have 8 and 10, but no 9, so are the recommendations invalid or just not tested and/or supported?

Hello,
I looked into it a bit more.... With NetWorker 7.5.x, Solaris 8 is no longer supported (which is also referenced in the Pre Installation section). As a result, the shared memory settings are only applicable to Solaris 9. The NetWorker 7.4.x procedure set calls out the reference I made previously. We'll make a slight adjustment to the wording in the 7.5.x docs to mention that this is relevant to Solaris 9 only and not Solaris 10 (due to some changes in Shared Memory handling in Solaris 10).

Thanks
Debbie

Hello,
I checked the Procedure set for Solaris and the following note is present in the Pre-Install Considerations for Solaris Operating Systems:

"Note:These parameter recommendations are applicable to Solaris 8 and 9 but not Solaris 10"

Can you double check and let me know if this Note is missing from your procedure set?

Thanks
Debbie

Debbie,

From the NetWorker Procedure Generator v2.9e, in having it do a new v7.5 install, in the section "Pre-Install Considerations on Solaris Operating Systems", it has the following statement, after it lists the recommended changes to /etc/system.

"These parameter recommendations are applicable to Solaris 9 only."

Your statement is much clearer in what it applies to.
