Unable to connect host - after installing new windows client

Hi there,

We have a problem with new host connected to the backup server.

I installed the client true a msi package that we created our selfs. The networker user starts on the client with no problem.

But when i try to browse the saveset in networker for that client I receive the followin error:

unable to connect host.jpg

Your problem may be the servers file.

Go to \res\servers and have look at the servers you put there or for typos and correct them.

You will have to put the NetWorker server in that file

Don't forget to restart the NetWorker service on the client.

The client had never a connection with the networker server. I is totaly new.

Can you explain this sentence a bit further?  If no saveset exists, there is nothing to browse.  Can you confirm that client definition has been created on the server side?

Of course he can browse savesets.

He's using NetWorker 7.5

There you can browse the clients file system an select file and dirs (savesets) you want to backup.

I tried to get the error myself yesterday and was successfull. I just edited the servers file.

I believe, he wants to create a client ressource and got the error discribed.

That is my understanding of this question.

That doesn't really explain statement before I asked for.  I think the best thing would be to connect remotely and see what exactly is the problem your customer has problem with.  Could be few things - each of them easy to resolve once you are "on the face of the place".

The problem is solved.

It was a mismatch in the firewall configuration.

After the firewall was modified I'm able to connect the host.

But what are the ports that networker use to communicate with the clients?

Maybe you can answer that.

Thanks in advanced.
