VBA EBR External proxy pool scope of servers

Hi ,

I wasn't able to solve this via a SR, I have external proxies for VBA to be able to backup different VLANS.

I read that VBA selects a proxy of it's pool depending on availability and other parameters.

I can't do backup due to FW restriciton between vlans and I don't understand why vba decides to launch some backups on a proxy that is located on a different VLAN than target VMS.

Any workaround for this ?

I've tried selecting storage node but that doesn't work as proxy

Regards

That's all I get

"A proxy is selected from the proxy pool based on its availability and periodically refreshes

the Proxy to datastore association."

That's a good question. I found this: "Proxy selection for the VM will be done based on the datastore availability."

If a proxy has no access to the datastore the VM resides in, another proxy should be used.

The network/VLAN configuration has no impact to how the proxy is selected IIRC.

Yes, That was exactly what I though but... then  I get an error due to firewall restriction.

So Proxy should have access only to the esx of the cluter where it's hosted but when it doesn't have access jobs are still assigned to it and fail, so I decided to open fw rules, this will mean an impact on performance as connections will have to bypass fw and routers but minimizes errors, once I can assing each proxy or proxy pool to their groups I'll be able to be optimal as well.
