Virtual Tape Library
Hello to all.
I have Networker 7.6.2 with VTL.
I want to know if I can see the actual space occupied by the VTL on the NAS (pre-and post-compression), or the space occupied, as displayed by the NMC, is that real?
Also, if I have the VTL in Recycle state, if I delete the VTL, free space on the NAS automatically, or need to do anything else??
The NAS is a Datadomain DD610 with OS 5.1
Thank you all for the help.

In order to regain the space on the Data Domain you must relabel te tape. Marking a tape as recyclable does not free up space. Even after a tape has been relabled, the space will not be freed up until a Data Domain "Clean" has completed. To view tape impact on a data domain, open a PuTTy session to it and enter:
filesys show space. This will yield a summary showing pre and post usage. for a specific tape use
vtl tape show all
or
vtl tape show barcode {barcoide}

From NetWorker, the size you see on tape is the actual data size saved on tape.
In case of Datadomain, it might be Deduplicated data size what you see. I think DataDomain Expert can suggest better on this.
