backup failed with exit code -512

Question

Hi everyone,

After I upgraded from windows 2003 se to Windows 2003 se r2, my backup failed with the exit code -512.

In the monitoring tab, the error is "nsrnmdde -o quiesce_backup -q suspend -s ALL failed with exit code -512".

Does anyone have experienced with this problem before and how to fix it???? Thanks

I'm using Networker 7.3.2 and NMD 1.1

In the compatibilities list, it indicates that NMD 1.1 is compatible with Windows 2000, and 2003 server, but does not specifically mentions NMD 1.1 not compatible with R2. Is there any patch that I can run to update the NMD software to resolve the issue??? Thanks

AFAIK Windows 2003 SE R2 is neither supported for NDM 1.1 or 1.2.

There was a service on the content server machine stopped, so the backup server could not find out the docbase to backup. I guess that was the reason my backup failed. Now after I restart the service on the docbase server, the backup runs fine.
