doing VADP and standalone file-level backup for the same host

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to use VADP (on a dedicated VADP proxy storage node) to do image backups of Linux hosts, but then at the same time, have a standalone client installed into the VM to do standard file-level backups ?

I can't seem to do it, since I can't choose a different storage node for my second client instance that I create.

Since the storage node for VADP is dedicated to that, it won't allow file level backups to it..

Is this something that can be done or I'm stuck with either full image only (vadp) for Linux or standalone only until networker supports file-level for Linux with VADP ?

Thanks!

Frank.

Hi Frank,

The 'save' command takes a '-J [storage node]' attribute.  This will probably work for the nsrvadp_save as well and will take precedence over what is specified in the 'Storage Nodes' field of the client configuration in the NMC.  Change the backup command attribute to include the -J [storage node] pointing it to the storage node you want and this should work for what you want to do.

Thanks Bobby. I'll definitely try that.
