error fetching vCenter information.

Hi there,

I'm working on 8.2 DA and I set up a VMware protection environment.

Everything is working fine. I connected to NetWorker and Vcenter OK.

Backups are running.

I can't refresh the VMware View (last item on the Config-List).

Every time I try I get the following error message (pop-up):

error fetching vCenter information.

vCenter: xxx.xxx

Reason(s): Remote process exited with errors

Anyone came across this? Any idea as where to start troubleshooting?

Thanks,

Hello gya,

  • Communications with VMware VirtualCenter instance for the refresh information on the VMware view in NMC are done by nsrvim(1m) program over SOAP. It is normally run automatically by nsrtask(1m) as specified by a nsr_hypervisor(5) resource. Any errors in the relevant logs?
  • What are the exactly versions and build  of NW server, NMC,VBA, VC , ESX ? Is this a new installation/deployment of NetWorker/VBA or an upgrade?
  • You may check NW158956 and NetWorker Bug 192590 which can be appropriate. Both planned a fix for future releases.

Hope that help,

Same problem for me on GA

Networker 8.2.0.5, VBA 1.0.149. VCenter 5.5

Because of the incompatibility of a NetWorker 8.1 SP1 or earlier OVA with the NetWorker 8.2 VMware Backup Appliance when configured in the same vCenter. OVA is not compatible with Networker Build used.

Hello,

I just ended a fresh install of Networker 8.2.1 on Windows 2012R2

NMC: Networker 8.2.1.0  Build 681

VC: 5.5 ,

ESXi: 5.5

and I have the same issue when discovering vCenter 5.5.

Any feedback will be very appreciated,

Kind Regards,

Kamal,

I found the solution. Now it works like a charm.

Decomission the appliance in the Networker Management Console, shutdown networker server, restart networker server, and from the appliance web gui, re-register the appliance with the Networker server. If you have some proxies, you will have to reboot them and while booting, re-register them with the appliance.

I know this is like getting out from a car that doesn't start, close the door, re-open the door, and restart the car, but it worked.er

Edit : by the way, I updated my Networker server in 8.2.1, everything still works like a charm even if the new OVA are not available.

Won't decommissioning the EBR appliance remove all the backups?
