jukebox issues with TL2000 SAS backup tape
We have a Dell R710 running Windows standard 2008 X64 wich will host the Networker server X64 version. It has 500Gb of diskspace and 4 GB of memory. Attached to it we have a Dell TL2000 unit LTO5 with 2 Drives. I installed the windows drivers for the unit. I'm not running the Windows Backup Feature, but I have the Removable Storage feature in my MMC. I check the library and I can see the unit's drives and the \\.\Tape# name that Windows gives it.
I created the storage node and scanned for all libraries. The scan completes and I can see both drives of the unit, but the library dose't get created. I can only configure the drives like stand alone units.

Try removing the "Removable Storage" feature and try again.
Let us know.
Cheers,

Hello Steven,
I have already remove the storage node and created a new one. I have also tried the jbconfig using the inquire command to check for the scsi devise path to use. I can see the drives themselves but not the autochanger.
In the old Networker server that has a PV 122T I can see in the Devise Manager the Tape Drives, but It has an autochanger as well. In the new server [2008 std] I can see in the Device manager the drive units, but not the autochange library.
I dont know if I should consider the TL2000 as an autochanger or a SIlo.

Did you try to configure it from CLI? It might be more verbose in what problem might be...

I found the problem was related to the PV Virtual Library and path control. Once correctly configure, the autochanger appeared.

Hi Woden,
How did you configured the PV Virtual Libray and path control? I am also having issues with the jukebox.

The problem I was experiencing at first was that Windows was not seen the auto changer. Using the inquire command only presented the drives, but not the auto-changer in the SCSI devices. I removed all the drivers for the tapes.
The Auto-changer appeared after I had manually reconfigured the powervault itself, before that Windows just didn't see it.
CLI > inquire

I don’t add the drivers for the auto-changer itself [Device Manager > Medium Changer Device > Unknown Medium Changer] That way Windows doesn’t try to take over the device, it conflicts with the request that Networker send to the library. If Windows has not finished with it’s request, they stay in the work queue and don’t let Networker to run properly .
After that I entered the CLI command jbconfig a went thru the motions of the quick installation. checked the library in the NMC and it was there.
Cheers!
