networker management console for MAC?

Hi all. recently got a mac; not sure how I like it. Anyway I noticed in the networker downloads it always says 'client only' and I want the Networker managment console. Is this a windows only thing; do I now need to manage backups from a different server or is there a management console for the MAC that i'm not finding

Mark,

There are two parts to the NMC.

The server part runs on either a dedicated server or your backup server and this provides the web services from which your client then connects to from a Java enabled browser.

Older version are more picky about the versions of Java supported than others.

Unless your NetWorker server is currently running on one of the few operating system that are NOT supported by the NMC then this should already be up and operation - the only way to mange NetWorker from 7.3.

You will need to point the web browser on your client to the http://?? address of the NMC and connect to port 9000. From there you should be challenged to enter the NMC user account and password - these will either be the default (see the NetWorker installation guide) or whoever set up your server will have changed these.

NMC 3.2 can run on Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX but not on Mac. Earlier versions only on Windows.

it is possible, since a it is a java application.

I have done this via VPN tunnel from home to office.

It is a long time ago, may be more tahn two years.

Instaed of using the web browser and port 9000 I used to start it direkt via java application manager, pointing to

the java-app and port 9001

It was on MacOS X 10.4, I have never installed the VPN client on my newer mac with 10.5

Try something like this (it uses port 9000, not 9001)

http:// :9000/LGTOnmc/gconsole.jnlp

But in my remember I thought that I used javaws direkt. May be I put the url

direkt into the javaws (can be started from shell)  window?

Too long ago, and today I do not use a Mac to do so. Sorry
