nsrlcpd is not running for this jukebox
Hi everyone,
After I upgrade my server from windows 2003 se to windows 2003 se r2 version, the tape library is automatically switched to disabled mode ("No" service). I re-enable and reset the tape library. By looking at the "Operations" in the Monitoring tab (in the Networker Administration), the error is:
Jukebox `DELL@2.0.0' is unavailable. nsrlcpd is not running for this jukebox.;
Can anyone please advise on how to make this tape library to go back online again??? Thanks.
I'm using NMD 1.1 and networker 7.3.2.

I don't really like OS upgrades when Nw is installed, you never know what's going to happen

So, by removing the old library, and run the jbconfig -s ServerName -l, I assume this will create a new library. I have 2 questions before I start reconfigure the library:
1. where can I look for the configuration file of the old library so that I can use it as a template for answering the questions during the setup?
2. In case of something goes sour, how can I restore back the configuration? (from /nsr/res folder???)
Also, is there a way to configure it with GUI instead of using command line??? I've the Networker Administrator interface.

Configure the library usually is not so hard. You have to use jbconfig, and it will not ask you anything you don't know, but to prevent anything, please tell me:
1) Is this library connected to the server or storage node? How many drives does it have? All drives are connected to the same host? Are any drive shared between multiple hosts? SCSI or SAN? NDMP?
And run inquire and put the output here, you may have a communication problem that should be fixed first.

Is there another way for not to reconfigure the library, yet just somehow make the Jukebox to be managed by the nsrlcpd ???

I would reconfigure the library:
- Stop Nw
- Make a copy of /nsr/res folder
- Start Nw
- Remove old library
- Run jbconfig
If you find any error messages, then you should test conectivity, drivers etc, as a lot of thing could have change due to the upgrade. There's no easy way, but to reconfigure the library works a lot of times

In fact, in the Networker Management Console, on the "Devices" tab, Under the Networker Server, there are two nodes:
Libraries
|________DELL@2.0.0
Devices
Storage Nodes
|______serverName
|__________DELL@2.0.0
Type of storage nodes: SCSI
Device sharing mode: Server default
The tape library has 2 drives: LTO Ultrium(1) and LTO Ultrium(2)
All these drives are connected to the same host. (networker server host).
(Are these data providing enough information for you? By the way, is there a command that I can run to get the information that you need?) Thanks.

There's a command called "inquire", it's installed with Nw. Inquire sill scan your scsi connections and show you any devices connected and some info (model, type, address etc). It will be useful to indentify if you have any issues regarding communication or addresses.

That's not the same problem
Anyway, what exatctly doesn't work with jbconfig - can you post the output of the command? If you did remove it only from NW as stated, then recreating library should be enough. Also, what has led you to remove it in the first place - I have a feeling that might be more related to why you might not see it now.

if you use DD or other tape library, please remap LUN to backup master server without change anything just do it,
then scan again in NW , you can find it
