. retry backup failed

If backup runs without problem it means that indexes goes to wrong client, if backup fails, this is not imporatant message and you should check communication betweenclient and server, name resolution, if port 7937 on client is accessible from backup server.

Go to the properties of the group that is currently failing -> Advanced -> make Client retries as 0 also under options in the same tab select "Verbose". Click Ok, re-run the group and see what error you see.

There is no logs in save group for this just there is one thing i.e 1 retry attempted and backup is failing .

1,. It retried because failed at the first attempt

2.- It is only informational message saying that there is no previous full backups so, regardless of the level this will be ran at FULL level.

Now, to check the progress you can either check the savegrp, or, depending on the version you can check:

7.x:

/nsr/tmp/sg/group_name (each file will correspond to probe, savesets, index and boostrap if applicable ).

NW 8.x

/nsr/logs/sg/group_name (each file will correspond to probe, savesets, index and boostrap if applicable ).

Quik question, can we use a custom script instead of save as a backup command? Never tested this,just curious to know.

Error above might indicate control session was killed while data one kept going.  You can check if data session was ok by doing:

mminfo -s dephbgsa11ms202.rhw-master -q group=d_db2,client=dephbgsa11clc01 -r "name,level,ssflags,sumflags,savetime(20)"

Yes it runs fine on Machine

saveSWF.bat  is a custom batch file ? Also, have you tried running that batch file directly on the respective machine?

Ah, now I get it... you run bat file as backup command.  There is a way how to run it, but generally this is abandoned idea. You can call save via savepnpc or directly save from the client.  There are certain rules if you want to use custom backup command that used to be documented in admin guide, but nowadays you would use savepnpc approach.  I suspect you would have pre command which does DB2 dump (based on group name) and then save would save it.  Post command could remove dump if you want it or you could leave that as first action for pre command.
