run the scanner command and get its results into txt file.

Just pipe the results into a text file:

scanner [parameters] > [path]results.txt

If you are running scanner froma UNIX like o/s, then use the script command to capture the ouput.  The advantage of this over a redirect is that it will display the info to the screen as well as saving it to a file.

For example: instead of

scanner -v /dev/rmt/0cbn  > scanner.txt 2>&1

use

script scanner.txt

scanner -v /dev/rmt/0cbn

exit

I've never met that script command before but it definitely looks useful, thanks for that Wallace.
