2 potential issues as i can read from the output:

  - no serial number is returned

  - another driver may already be active.

Of course you must ensure that no other driver could claim it.

Then, if the jukebox appears under libraries as detected but unconfigured, you must delete it first (nsradmin), then run jbconfig with option 4) . You need to answer some questions but in the end the configuration will work.

Of course the pathname should not be 'y' (16024:jbconfig: Unable to open SJI device y) but the one INQUIRE reported (scsidev@3.1.1).

I am surprised that the system now suggests scsidev@3.0.0 - did you change the configuration?

Hello,

Under library i did not see the new one, only under device i see the 2 new drive.

i have already try the option 4 in jbconfig  :

scsidev@3.0.0 Pathname of the control port for the jukebox device? y
16024:jbconfig: Unable to open SJI device y. Check device, connections and drivers.
Unable to access device "Standard SCSI Jukebox" on control port "y".

Have you already installed the "drivers" package on this machine? (yes/no) yes
16024:jbconfig: Unable to open SJI device y. Check device, connections and drivers.
39077:jbconfig: error, There appears to be something incorrect about your driver
installation.  Please consult your driver documentation
to help you troubleshoot your installation.

scsidev@3.0.1:HP      MSL G3 Series   G.33|Autochanger (Jukebox)

scsidev@3.1.0:HP      Ultrium 5-SCSI  I25W|Tape, /dev/rmt31.1

This is weird - it looks like you have changing SCSI Addresses.

I am not an AIX specialist and never had to setup persistent bindings but it looks like this would help here. This is what you have to solve first.

Hi,

AIX by Default does not need Persistent binding set up as the entries should be held in its Database. The version of NetWorker is not mentioned but recent versions do not use LUS – they use SGEN drivers. Also with IBM they are two ways to set up the drives – exclusive and non-exclusive.

I think you would be best off downloading the following guide from the Service Centre Web portal and looking at the AIX section – this should give you everything you need (if the link does not work please search for the title as below): -

Isn't sgen versus lus applicable to Solaris only?  On AIX it is still lus.

H,

Yes – you are correct, I was getting mixed up with the SMC driver. Please ignore sgen reference. The document should resolve your issues though.

AIX native SMC driver interferes with direct SCSI communication to a changer device.

If an AIX system is used for access to the library, it should be disabled:

Hi,

Thanks for the help but i have already read that document and i did not find the solution.

I already use the lus for the VTL ( Datadomain) and i don't have the SMC driver.

i have installed the atape driver from ibm and the VTL drive take the good driver but for the physical drive i always the generic driver.
