This looks like either a corrupt mediadb or a nsrmm failure.

Deleting the media should not be necessary prior to label the tape.

The pool configuration should not matter at all - with respect to labeling.

For me it seems as if the volume id will not properly be deleted during the process.

You better update the NW version. If the problem persists, you better contact EMC support.

Thank you for the quick answer!

I recognized the following:

During the labelling we got in the storage node log: (daemon.raw)

nsrsnmd NSR info 34 volume %s not found in media index

The tape block size is 512kb, not the default one, but all tape using the same block size.

What do you suggest? How can i cross check the media db contents vs tapes in the jukebox?

This is the issue - you can query the mdb but to thoroughly check it I would get EMC support envolved.

Also check if tapes are worn tapes. Worn is write once and read many .
