3948 alignment erros and FCS

Hi,

I have  a Dell 2650 Server with a Broadcom 1GB NIC connected to a 3048 switch that is reporting a lot of alignment and FCS errors on the NIC interface diagnositc and also the switch port statisitcs summery shows a hig number (30453) that is constanly increasing for this port under Errors Recieved. I have other machines similar to this connected to the same switch which work fine. the card on this particular server is configured for Auto speed, Auto flow control. On the switch side it is Auto speed, auto Flow control. in the 3048 web interface I see an orange 100 next to the auto drop down box for speed (that suggests to me that it keeps negociating the speed) and Flow control is set to Auto but it is missing the green FC which I see next to the other good behaving ports.
By the way this server is handling quite a bit of traffic.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, hints ...

Something is wrong, I would try a different cable.  Also, are you going through a patch panel or any other devices?  You could also try moving to a different port, does the problem follow the cable, or stay with the port?

This sounds like a physical layer issue.
