5448 Fan Noise
Is there anything that can be done to reduce this device's fan noise? My PowerConnect 5448 sounds like a loud vacuum cleaner. Thanks.

Other than taking it apart and replacing it, no. You can remove it from the switch (my 6248 don't generate much heat anyways). You might be able to find a replacement on Jameco.com.
Just a thought.
