Thanks antvas, I can see how the wording is confusing. From what I can tell it is based on power draw, by default it is in redundancy mode, if enough POE devices are drawing power and it is not able to power them in redundancy mode it will automatically switch to a non-redundant mode and allow for more power. To stay fully redundant and maximize the power available an external power supply is also required. Page 30 https://dell.to/2Dnax5I and page 156 https://dell.to/39J6NaR
We are upgrading our infrastructure with dell switches server and storage. We have already chooce the Dell N2224PX-ON switch and S switches. My question arose when i read smt on the data sheet of the N2224PX-ON
We are getting a second psu 1050W and in the data sheet it says that it extends the PoE budjet of the switch. So i speculate, possibly erroneous, that i can use the second psu not for redundancy but only to increase the PoE budget.
Is this possible? Forgive my naive question but the wording in the dat sheet makes me go in cyrcles.

Hi antvas,
How much power are you needing? The N3248PXE supports 48 ports at 99W per port. Page 83 https://dell.to/3gfZ3PU
