Connecting 2624 switch to a hub
Can I connect a hub to the PowerConnect 2624? I tried it and the FDX/HDX lights do not blink.
Thanks

There should not be a problem connecting a hub to the switch. A non-illuminated FDX/HDX LED will indicate a half-duplex connection. The LED should only blink when collisions are occurring on that port.
If you simply connected the hub to the switch with no devices connected to the hub, you would not expect the FDX/HDX LED to blink. The true test would be to try passing traffic between the clients on the hub and clients connected directly to the switch. With constant traffic on the hub, you should begin to see collisions on that port.

The Win2K computer (s) that are connected to the hub can not see the file server ie the "F" drive. All was working well until I replaced the hubs near the file server with the new switches. All other computer are working OK. Only the ones in this workgroup

I would suggest first verifying whether you have Layer 2 connectivity between the switch and the hub. Configure a static IP address on a client on the switch and a client on the hub. Try to ping between the two clients. If the ping fails, you either have a physical or Layer 2 problem. If this is the case, I would try swapping with a known-good pre-fabricated store-bought cable.
If the ping works, you have Layer 2 functionality. The switch does not understand anything above Layer 2. If this is the case, you may need to optimize your WINS/DNS settings and begin capturing traffic between the problematic devices to find the source of the problem.
