Connecting simple switch to a PowerConnect 3524
Hello all,
I have been looking for a solution to this for a few hours but haven't seen anything close enough so I figured I'd post here. I have a PowerConnect 3524 that has been configured and works for computers and servers that are directly connected to it. Unfortunately, they did not provide enough wall-port connections for all the PC's so I have been forced to use a simple 5-port switch (Cisco EZXS55W) to connect the rest. Unfortunately this isn't working. The computers are not connecting to the network and the switch itself has the link/activity light going on and off every couple seconds. I ran a cable test from the PowerConnect and I can see the switch connecting and dropping from the network.
I tried a crossover cable, a regular cable, switching from uplink to standard ports, and switched to a forced 10Mb link on the switch. Switching to the 10Mb link allowed the link light to stay on but I still cannot get anything to pass between the two switches.
My question is, is there any configuration on the 3524 that needs to happen to allow a dumb switch to connect to it and pass traffic? Thanks for any assistance,
Zane

Please post the output of the following from the 3524:
show running_config
show interface status
show spanning-tree
My best guess is that auto negotiation is turned off, but the information above will help us see if that is the case.
