DELL 6224F SpanningTree-LoopGuard issues

Hi,

We are experiencing some issues for SpanningTree-LoopGuard features.

We have multiple 6224F switch connected via F/O modules between multiple location, recently we experience issues on 1 of the 6224F switch which the port (STP Root) connected to another 6224F switch get transitioned into blocking state for unknown reason.

6224F switch behavior as follow 1. When the error occurs, F/O port 16 (STP Root) triggered LoopGuard blocking port and transition into Loop inconsistent State, logs as follow:

On the same switch, we have 9 ports (1/2/3/4/8/13/22/23/24) configured with LoopGuard feature and they all transition into blocking state, but recover within 5 sec back to forwarding state. Log as follow:

After 2 mins, port 16 transition out of Loop insistent state and get elected as new STP Root port.

Again the other 9 ports record the same behavior as they all transitioned into blocking state and recover back to forwarding state within 5 sec.

1. Is this behavior normal for all SpanningTree-LoopGuard ports? 

2. Does this indicate that there is some hardware issues for this particular 6224F switch?

 

Current firmware information for 6224F switch as follow:

!System Description "PowerConnect 6224F, 3.3.3.3, VxWorks 6.5"
!System Software Version 3.3.3.3
!Cut-through mode is configured as disabled

Hi,

First I would try updating the firmware. https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=GNJ87&osCode=NAA&productC... There could have been a bunch of traffic that caused a timeout and for it to start switching ports for STP.
