Dell 6248 Stack replace member. member comes up as Master 1

We had a switch go bad in our stack of 4 - 6248 switches.

I pulled a spare we had, & verified firmware versions and cleared the config & reset the switch.

We removed the old switch from the stack and inserted the new one (using the old stacking card).  The new switch powered up and is identifying itself as MASTER 1   The stack currently contains members Master 1,2,& 4  with switch 3 being the one that failed.

When I view 'show versions'  on the stack master it shows switches 1, 2, & 4  and their firmware versions but shows   for switch 3.    it seems the stack isn't seeing the new switch and the new switch isn't seeing the stack.

Could it be the stacking card that failed ? How would I be able to tell ?

The show stack command shows two of the links being down.. at this point I suspect the stacking card is bad.
