Dell Edge Gateway 3003 with Ubuntu Core 16: How to use watchdog

Hello!

It's hard to find the correct location for my question. So this is just an attempt to get some hints.

We have a Dell Edge Gateway 3003 with Ubuntu Core on it. We try to use the watchdog. But we cannot find any documentation how to use it. Has anyone any suggestions for us? Or even a small example what to do?

The documentation just has a link to a config file, but there is no explanation what can be configured.
