Dell N2024 Colocation setup

Hi,

I've been given the task of setting up a simple colocation but my knowledge of setting up managed switches is a little limited.

I've been given the below IP info by a single network drop into a rack.

Public IP - 1
Public IP - 2
Public IP - 3
Gateway - 1
Subnet mask 255.255.255.248

Current server setup in the rack.
Linux Server 1 with Public IP - 2
Linux Server 2 with Public IP - 3

My aim is to setup the Dell N2024 so that the network drop connects to the switch and then can pass traffic to the servers.

My thought was to setup the switch with a private address for example.

IP - 10.10.10.1
Gateway - 0.0.0.0
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Then setup a vlan for the three public IP's above.

Is this the correct way to complete this task?
It seems simple enough but i'm being thrown into it with no guidance so some steps or advice is welcome.

Thanks

Hi Daniel,

Yes there on the same subnet, see below for a better example of what I've been given.

IP 1 - .25.172

IP 2 - .25.173

IP 3 - .25.174

Gateway - 25.169

Subnet Mask- 255.255.255.248

I think the gateway is a Cisco switch but that belongs to the colocation provider so I don't access or much info on what it can do.

That Cisco gives me one network cable which i'm hoping to connect to the Dell N2024 on port 2 while adding;

Server 1 on port 3 with a static IP of .25.173 in the server network config.

Server 2 on port 4 with a static IP of .25.174 in the server network config.

Thanks for all the info Daniel, I'm setting up the switch tomorrow so I will try out what you'e said and see how it goes.

Looks to be quite simple from how you've explained it so feeling a little more confident now.

I will reply back if all goes well or if i run into any issues :)

Thanks again.
