Dell OS10 Firmware Upgrades
Hello,
Quick question, I have several Dell S5248F switches, licensed to run Dell OS10, and I'm looking to upgrade the firmware.
Although, seems downloading firmware upgrades are not permitted if the device is not under support/warranty contracts. I contacted Dell Support/Sales and got a quote for a basic warranty which was coming in at 1.5k per device which is quite extortionate.
I'm not sure if it was a communication barrier since the Dell representative was from India, and I have a strong accent, but is it correct that firmware images cannot be downloaded for your licensed product if not under a support/warranty contract?
I do not really require TAC support, but just want the ability to perform firmware upgrades.

Hi @padraig92,
Based on the warranty entitlement for networking, it seems you need the warranty contract for S5200 firmware updates.

Have you tried using DDL (Dell Digital Locker) to check if the firmware update is available for you? https://dell.to/3gYQKKD

DELL-Joey C,
I had the same question as the original question on this thread.
Your response was for the S5200 switches alone but I would like you to provide some clarity on if the same applies to all other products supported by SmartFabric OS10.
"is it correct that firmware images cannot be downloaded for your licensed product if not under a support/warranty contract"?
Can I still download firmware images from DDL when support expires?
Thank you.

Hi @jessieobioma,
By referring "support expires" as in warranty contact of the product? Yes you can still download firmware OS10 from DDL when warranty contact expires.
