General mode not working on N1548 switch?

Hi,

N1548P switch with firmware 6.6.0.2

I was hoping that setting ports from "access" to "general" mode would allow a port to both accept tagged and untagged traffic. However, it seems to still strip the VLAN, only when I set it to "trunk" instead, does the tagged traffic come in fine.

Am I misunderstanding something?

Hello,

If you could share more information about the running configuration, it may be more helpful in getting you an answer. If you'd be comfortable sharing the port config, it'd be handy.

With the default settings, a port in access mode will pass untagged VLAN1. A port in general mode will pass untagged VLAN1. A port in trunk mode will pass untagged VLAN1 and tagged VLANs. Assuming those defaults, then on the general ports you have to add the VLANsyou want tagged.

switchport general allowed vlan add < tagged | untagged>

Hopefully, this is of some assistance!
