Sm3013,

I apologize about that the shortening tool was changed so some older links aren't working. The link he shared can be found here

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks!

I can login from CMC connect to switch with connect switch-n command.  And can configure username and password for this.

Hi,

If you have the current password you can configure with the username command. Page 154 https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/poweredge-fx2_reference-guide8_en-us.pdf

If you don’t have it try to connect to the console during the boot process and hit any key and see if you can reset the password from the boot menu.

Hello DLOAD,

This may help you.

Information on Reset FN IOM to Default Factory Configuration is described Page 94

By default, the FN IOM is shipped from the factory in Standalone Mode, which consists of the following default settings Page 100

but my question is, why did del make this "reset to factory defaults" button, what is it for? I haven't found a purpose except that it resets the IP address?

Hello DLOAD,

It is for best practice to reset the FN IOM to factory defaults when changing between modes of operation i.e. Standalone mode to VLT, Stacking, Full Switch, or Programmable Mux. By default, the FN IOM is shipped from the factory in Standalone Mode and reset to defaults restore default settings shown in the table page 100 :  https://dell.to/3voOCU3
