IP helper

Hi guys,

I need a little bit help.

Currently I have few VLANs in a Dell N2048P running on 6.3.1.8

I tried to configure IP helper on a VLAN but i got below error:

"Server cannot be in a subnet on an interface where the helper address is configured".

I tried to configure same IP helper but on another VLAN on this switch and it works.

Also, I have an IP helper on another VLAN that point to the firewall(DHCP from firewall) and it works well too.

So I'm not sure where is the root cause of this issue.

Please help me.

Thanks in advance.

This message is letting you know that the DHCP server already resides within the same subnet, so there is no need to configure ip helper. You want to use IP helper when the DHCP server is located on a different VLAN.

The user guide does a good job of explaining this feature and how it is used.
