N3024 and a 5424

Currently have a N3024 connected to a 5424 via 10G SFP+ trancievers. Link to main network is connected to an ethernet port on the N3024. Link light is blinking on 5424 for SFP+ port and if I connect a computer to an ethernet port on the N3024 I can get on network and internet.

If I connect to an ethernet port on the 5424 I get no network or internet access and the IP address for the PC is the 169.254.x.x which means no connection.

If I move the main network connection to the 5424 then I can get on with the PC connected to the 5424 and not the N3024.

All I have configured is an IP address, gateway, hostname, vlan is 1. I assume I need to configure the sfp+ port on the N3024 and the combo port on the 5424??

What is the part number for the transceivers you are using on the switches? What kind of cable are you using?

I would compare the port configurations with each other. Makes sure everything is the same. The 5424 sfp ports are 1GB, so make sure the negotiated speed is correct.

To be clear, both the N2048 and the 5424 are using transceiver FTRJ8519P1BNL?

What is the output from # show fiber-ports optical-transceiver?

Have 2 different transcievers, the 1G are FTRJ8519P1BNL which is what we currently use to connect  a 5424 to a 3548.

The 10G are P/N 0DT87G and are what we purchased to connect the N3024 to a N2048 ( these are to replace the 3548 switches).

Eventually we will have our main Cisco 2821 connected to an N2048  through an 08T47V ethernet transciever and then from the other SFP port over fiber to the N3024 in another building.

The 3rd building has a 5424 and it will be connected to an N2048 through fiber with a FTRJ8519P1BNL.

Show fiber-ports on the N2048 has:

port te1/0/1 temp 44.1 voltage 3.318 current 4.8 output power -5.340 input power -32.218 tx fault no los yes.

5424 doesn't have show fiber-ports. It has unit_id 1 SFP 3 status is present. no link lights on either switch using this transciever.

on the 5424 the syntax is a little different # show fiber-ports optical-transceiver.

What are the specs on the cable you are using?

test fiber cable is 2 ST to LC 62.5/125 MM  patch cables connected with ST barrel connector.

The specs on the cable seem fine. What is the total length of the cable run? If you plug both transceivers into one switch, and then make a loop with one short cable, will the lights come on? This will help narrow down a possible transceiver issue.
