New to Dell Switches: Administration Tool?
Good day,
I am newly managing a network with several (10-15) Dell PowerConnect Switches. They are PowerConnect 5524P mostly. I am wondering if there is a free tool to discover and manage them, set up VLANs, enable/disable features and ports, etc, similar to Cisco Network Administrator. I have heard that there is an OpenManage for switches, but these didnt come with that on CD and it isnt in downloads. Please send me a link for a free Dell switch management GUI to download.
Thanks!

I followed that link once before and it goes to a third party called Dorado, who makes you fill out a form and promises a link to download the software, but I never received the link. It is only free to manage 10 switches, not free for as many as you want. Not exactly what I was hoping for...Isnt there a better solution?

Holy Cow, this requires:
• Dual Core processor or higher
• 6 Gig memory minimum, 8 Gig recommended (Additional memory will enhance application performance)
• 40 Gig of available disk capacity, 100 Gig recommended (Additional memory will enhance archiving of performance data and event records).
And only runs on a Server OS?
I am really looking for a fairly simple management tool, like this one that Cisco has:
www.cisco.com/.../index.html It runs on XP and is free for more than 10 switches. Does Dell have anything that fits this bill to manage the PowerConnect switches?

You could look at the Solarwinds tools. However I am not sure if the free version works with Dell switches. Its just an option.
