PowerConnect 3048 Issues...

I have 3 PowerConnect 3048's. During usage (either light or heavy) I have encountered the following issue. One two of my three we experienced a loss of connectivity on the additional gigabit ports 49 and 50. Upon closer examination they simply disappeared from the switches configuration menus (in all aspects, telnet, console, http) and we get link lights, but they will not forward data or allow other data to access them. I have reflashed, reset to defaults, you name it I've pretty much done it.

Does anyone know why or how this would be happening? Is it just coincidence that two of my three failed on me like this??? I'm considering buying more dell switches but if they end up like this I might spend more money and get something more reliable. Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone!

I've never seen this problem, so I don't think its a general issue, although my switches are getting pretty old now..what version of firmware are you using?

I have had 2 3048's that had issues with the gig ports. They would most often lockup during the boot sequence when the switch was looking for the gig ports. The issue on my switches was the mounting setup used to connect the daughterboard for the gig ports to the main board inside the switch. The daughterboard had come almost all the way off the pin header. I reseated the board and away i went. My units were out of warranty at the time so i didnt really have much to loose.
