PowerConnect 3424p - end-span and/or mid-span?

We're considering buying a Dell PowerConnect 3424p, but the ip-phones we're gonna use require mid-span power. Can the PowerConnect 3424p supply this kind of power?

I'm not sure why your IP phone would require mid-span controller specifically.  Typically mid-span controller is used when you don't want to replace your existing Ethernet switches but still wanted PoE.  So you would install a mid-span controller which is another module between the Ethernet switch and the PoE device so that's yet another box to manage.  If you use a PoE enabled Ethernet switch then you don't need the mid-span controller, the 3424P PoE Ethernet switch can provide power to the PoE device as long as the PoE device is an 802.3af compliant device.  Unless your IP phone is not a standard-based 802.3af compliant phone and somehow require a specific proprietary mid-span controller?

I hope this answer your question.  If I misunderstood your questions please re-ask.

Cuong.
