I am in the exact same boat. I'm enjoying using and learning about this product, but the fans are SO loud that even having it in my unfinished basement is causing too much noise on the first floor. I am wanting to open the case and dynamat the inside! Are there any fan replacements out there? These little guys seem to be spinning at an extremely high rate (have to to make that much noise) and could probably get by at something under 8K rpm.

I just to find this while looking for a solution for my Dell Powerconnect 5324. I have found the following information along with a youytube video to be rather useful. It makes the unit bearable and tones the level of the fans down considerably. I know its several years late but hope it can help someone later after my post.

I bought 2 Noctua (NF A4x20 12 volt) but they are spinning at a much lower frequency. Very quit but the fan led on the front beazel won't turn green. It's a litle bit flashy green/red problaly due to the fact it's running on a low speed. I checked and there are no resistors in between.
