PowerConnect Support
Greetings,
I have tried to obtain PowerConnect (unmanaged) support via the telephone numbers listed in other messages. However, I seem to be continually routed to where I don't want to be - Dimension support, etc.
Can anyone provide a good phone number, with menu choices, that gets me to PowerConnect (unmanaged) technical support?
I have a PC2016 that will suddenly start blinking all of its port lights, and become dead to the ethernet world. Power down / power up restores the switch, but that's only a short-term solution. I believe I have a hardware problem, and I want to obtain a warranty replacement.
Best regards,

Help? I've tried the regular technical support phone numbers, and I keep getting routed to the wrong place, and buried on hold.

Greg G -
I said that the switch flashes all of its port lights when the problem occurs
I did not say, however, that all the ports were populated. Indeed, they are not.
Replacing the PowerConnect with a NetGear switch (of the same capabilities) also resolves the problem.
I'll again try to contact the appropriate technical support branch, using the numbers and options that you supplied.
Thanks,

If all of the LEDs are flashing for only the active ports when this lockup occurs, the problem sounds more likely to be related to a broadcast storm. This can be caused by something as simple as a network card going bad and generating traffic. Broadcast storms can be difficult to troubleshoot and usually require the use of a packet sniffer program. A broadcast storm basically fills up the buffers on the switch and will eventually cause the processor to lock up. Rebooting the switch flushes the buffers and resets the processor, which is why the switch begins passing traffic again.
Currently, the best number to call for technical support is (800) 822-8965. The prompts to follow are the following:
The technician will need the service tag which can be found on a label on the back of the switch.
