Powerconnect 5424
Hi I've been given a powerconnect 5424, but when I try to set it up using the console through tera term it hangs and wont load any further I've included a pic
No Events found!

does it give you an option to enter the boot menu before it tries to boot?

Try that and flashing the firmware. In the firmware download follow the xmodem instructions starting with step 5. https://dell.to/2UY7uqX

You may try forcing serial line speed to 9600 bps. I have occasionally found a similar problem with a Dell X1008 I have at home (latest boot (1.0.0.25) and software (3.0.1.3) installed on it). At times it displays switch messages on console (my workstation uses cu(1) as communication software) but does not accept keyboard input. Forcing the line speed improves serial communication.
It seems your switch has passed the boot loader and flash image validation, so I would start looking at line parameters. In my humble opinion is an easy and less intrusive test than reinstalling the operating system using the xmodem protocol. I must admit I never transmitted a firmware image of that size using xmodem, I guess it will be a slow process.
