Presently they are independent, but will be stacked once I get them updated.  The switch that won't accept a backup firmware image is presently running version 5.1.1.7.

I have not tried copying newer firmware yet, but that sounds like the best option at this point.  I'll give it a try and let you know the outcome.

That worked.  6.2.7.2 successfully loaded at the backup version, and I was able to then switch it to be the running version.
