Resolved - Networking Help - Trunk Mode or General Mode

Question

Hi, I am new to networking and trying to config Dell Powerconnect 7024. I have router running Opnsense and have 3 VLANs setup on it. Before the Dell switch I was using cisco with a trunk port setup as below. Router <--- Trunk(VLAN 10,20,30) ---> Cisco Switch <--- Trunk (Allowed VLAN 20,30) ---> Cisco AP I have configured dell switch same way as cisco switch but network is not stable. Issue 1 - is that I have 2 SSID setup with 2 different VLANs in AP, out of 2 only 1 is able to connect via AP 2nd SSID does not connect (no internet access or IP). If I create an access port for that same VLAN and plug device directly I get connectivity. Issue 2 - after a device reboots (connected directly to switch) it will loose network or wont get an IP. I believe my setup of trunk ports are incorrect. I also found out that a General Port can be configured which act as hybrid port. If someone can guide me what are the core differences and what can i do to improve network stability that will be greatly appreciated. Thank You Best Regards Homi

Hi, A trunk port only carries tagged traffic. A general port carries one untagged VLAN set as a PVID and the rest of the VLANs are tagged.

Thanks for your msg.. I resolved it by removing native vlan 1 and adding 30.

I want to use 1 of the SPF+ ( Dell FTLX1371D3BCL-FC) module in NAS in future. Can you please suggest what are some of the dell or other manufacturers 10G network card that are compatible with them?
