Hello,

please can you provide some details about this issue?

At first, how are LEDs on the front when it stucks?

Thanks

Hi,

Was it working previously? What OS versions are they running? What errors are you getting? Did you try reloading again? Are they Dell optics?

Hi Mod,

Yes they were working before reboot.

They are running with 9.14.2.9

%S6100-ON:1 %KERN-2-INT: ismt0: smbus reset done
- repeated 2048 times

Jun 22 22:20:54 %S6100-ON:1 %KERN-2-INT: ismt0: smbus resismt0: smbus reset done
Jun 22 22:20:26 %S6100-ON:1 %KERN-2-INT: ismt0: smbus reset done

Tried the reboot couple of times but no luck, if we remove and install them back then they comes online.

Do you have an extra module to swap in and see if that one does the same thing?
Also, would you clarify the responses to the questions presented by Josh, as that will help us troubleshoot the issue.
Thanks.

Hi Chris,

I don't have extra modules to swap, and have already responded to john's queries.

Did any customer faced the similar issue?

Ashraff

Maybe some other customers can add their opinion but I wasn’t able to find anything that this is a known issue. When it is happening does show interfaces transceiver show stats for them? https://dell.to/3gTKbs3 Page 708

Hi John,

Following is the sfp module type.

QSFP type is 40GBASE-CR4

Actually the modules that are not coming up are 16 port switch modules which are installed in s6100.

S6100-MOD-16xETH40-F(Switch module)

Interesting they comes up, if we do hard reboot. but they are not coming up when we issue reload from switch.

is there anything to do with reload type?

Hello,

which type of reload are you using?

You can try to change the reload type and see if problem is the same.

See more info:

Hi Ashraff,

It doesn't seem to have any similar issues as you faced.

How many modules do you have in the S6100?

Since you're able to access console while the module is offline, probably you can try checking the logs of the switch which maybe can lead to the issue's root cause, #show tech-support.

Also, since you are on version 9.14 which supports hot swap on module, could you try to check if hot swapping the module (remove and install) helps the issue? Reference page 25: https://dell.to/3y5xK3s. Please take note of the caution clause on the page.
