Firmware updates are good, per se, just wary after the last blowup! However, the stack cannot be upgraded until Christmas when the school is closed. What I needed was the level of logging that would give me STP messages but not STATSMGR messages. I will try the filter you suggested.

I have several bandwidth monitors and SolarWinds NPM that could be a source but they have been up for some time.
