Setup VLAN and ACL between VLANS on PowerConnect 5448
I think I have an easy question for someone.
I have a PowerConnect 5448. I created VLan 1 and VLAN 2. I have a server on VLAN 1 that is say 192.168.1.5. How do I setup a ACL so that the server can access everything on VLAN 2 and nothing on VLAN 2 can access the server. Basically a 1 way only communication.
thanks

Well the 5448 only supports Layer 2, so to communicate across vlans, you'd need to setup routing on a Layer 3 device (either another switch supporting L3 or a box with some NIC cards in it to do the routing).
I currently am using some Cisco equipment and just added a 5448 & 5424 for growth, but use a Cisco 3550 for Layer 3 routing with the other switches trunking off of it. While the 3550 will by default route traffice between vlans, I've read you can setup ACLs to prevent some vlans from communicating, but I don't know if Dell offers any L3 devices that would allow ACLs to do the same thing.
