Stacking options in S series switches

Hi,

with the EOS of S3048-ON and S4048-ON switches, what option is left for stacking 1/10G switches?

Thanks!

Hi,

Unfortunately, S3048-ON will not be able to stack with S4048-ON. The ports aren't compatible speed with each other.

Hi, Frankly, as this technical team, we do not have a tool that we can check in this way. For products that have EOS or are ongoing active sales, I can recommend you to contact your local sales team https://dell.to/2R6qRPk and the "user guide" of the product you want to buy. You can check user guide at Dell support page for detailed specification https://dell.to/32YZSYI

I want to share this page, which I think will be useful for you, here you can check which switches use OS9 and OS10. https://dell.to/3ntn0I8

Also, you can check OS10 architecture They are support VLT protocol and VRRP might be you can use alternative of stacking  https://dell.to/2R6IVc7

Hi Joey,

this was not my question though. Let me ask it again.

The switches S3048-ON and S4048 are End of Sale (EoS). These used to run OS9.

Which switches are still in sale, running OS9 and with the option to stack or to support stacking?

I am asking for the S series switches.

I hope the question is more clear now.

Thanks

As Erman mentioned, I would look into the VLT options with OS10.  Stacking has some serious drawbacks, and is probably why Dell decided to just drop it in favor of VLT for OS10.

The biggest advantage with VLT is the control and mgmt planes remain separate, and you can perform maintenance on each switch individually and reboot them in sequence.

The only draw back would be you have two separate devices to manage.
