Switch Uplink Port Question/Power Outage Issue
I have a question regarding this. After we had a power outage, How can I tell which ports are the uplink ports? Are they typically on the right side? I did not set this up, so trying to test and see if the port not working can be reset or if it is fried. How can I test these issues? How do I know what port is the uplink ports? These switches are on the DMZ used for camera's across 5 buildings all within a few hundred yards of each other. The camera's work now, but I had to plug the Cat 5 cables going between buildings into regular ports of the switch instead if the FDX G3/G4 ports or w/e. I am new to this so I may not be relaying stuff correctly, but any help is appreciated.

Hi Josh,
We are using a Dell PowerConnect 3524P in all buildings for our cameras.

Yes, the ports are the right are the gigabit ports for the uplink. The other ports are 10/100.

Right, so is there a way for me to check those ports and see if they are still active or if they are fried?

Do they show that they are up on their status? You could try connecting something else to them and seeing if you can get a connection.
